Catalytic Oxidation of Hydrocarbon (HC) and Carbon Monoxide (CO)

In order to also reduce the hydrocarbon and the carbon monoxide levels in the exhaust gas, a catalytic oxidation catalyst is being inserted. The pollutant gases diffuse through to the surfaces of the ceramic honeycomb coated with noble metals and react there to form hydrogen and carbon dioxide.

Hydrocarbon is causing smog and irritate eyes and nose. Carbon monoxide can cause anoxic toxication of humans.
